What You'll Need

- Heavy-duty staple gun (3/8" or 1/2" staples)
- Flathead screwdriver or staple remover
- Scissors or utility knife
- Pliers (optional, for stubborn staples)
Step 1: Measure Your Booth Seat
Before ordering, measure the width and depth of your booth seat at its widest points. Restaurant booths typically come in three shapes:
- Quarter Circle (1/4): Corner booth seats
- Half Moon / Half Circle (1/2): Standard curved booths
- Full Horseshoe (U-Shape): Large round booths
Add 3–4 inches to each measurement to account for the wrap-around and stapling area.
Step 2: Remove the Old Cover
Use a flathead screwdriver or staple remover to pull out the existing staples from the underside of the seat. Work around the perimeter, removing all staples before pulling the old vinyl away. If the foam underneath is damaged, this is a good time to replace it.
Step 3: Position the New Cover
Lay your new vinyl cover face-down on a flat surface. Center the seat cushion on top of it, foam-side down. Make sure there's an even amount of vinyl on all sides — you need enough to wrap underneath and staple securely.
Step 4: Staple the Cover
Starting at the center of one straight edge, pull the vinyl firmly over the edge and place your first staple. Work outward from the center toward the corners, pulling the vinyl taut as you go. Then do the opposite side, then the remaining sides.
Pro tip: Pull firmly but don't over-stretch — you want the vinyl smooth on top without puckering at the corners.
For curved sections, make small relief cuts in the vinyl every 2–3 inches so it wraps smoothly without bunching.
Step 5: Trim and Finish
Trim any excess vinyl that extends beyond the staple line. Fold corners neatly and add extra staples to secure them. Flip the seat over and inspect the top — the vinyl should be smooth, tight, and wrinkle-free.
Step 6: Reinstall the Seat
Drop the seat back into the booth frame. Most restaurant booth seats simply rest in place or attach with a few screws. You're done.
